Transportation and Economic Development

The county has been an active partner in supporting regional and local improvements that create a better environment for businesses to grow and thrive. From bringing the NOAA research fleet here, to major highway improvements, to the Port of Newport’s shipping terminal, to new facilities for Oregon Coast Community College, we have used our influence with regional and state decision-makers and our local economic development fund to build a better Lincoln County.

We provide ongoing support to the Small Business Development Center at Oregon Coast Community College, which has helped create and retain hundreds of jobs through the years.

Our county’s economy is a four-legged stool: fishing, timber, tourism, and the newest leg: ocean science. For many in fishing and timber, employment isn’t just a job, it’s a way of life, handed down through the generations. I remain committed to building and diversifying our economy while insuring that our traditional industries remain strong.
